11/6/17: Senate Tax Legislation and Appropriations

The President is out of the country this week so we are hoping for more calm here in DC. The focus will continue to be on tax legislation with the Senate expected to unveil it’s own bill later this week. Additionally, to complicate the House bill, some are pushing to attach repeal of Obamacare to it. Also, the federal government has been operating under a Continuing Resolution (CR) to keep the federal government open. The CR expires in December but we are hearing very little about compromise spending legislation...

11/2/17: Republican Tax Legislation

Today House Republicans unveiled their long anticipated tax bill, dubbed the “Tax Cuts and Jobs Act,” that would reduce the number of individual tax brackets from seven to four, slash rates for businesses and eliminate a number of tax breaks. Republicans maintain that the average family of four making $59,000 a year would get a $1,182 tax cut under the 429-page plan.
